TWENTYNINE PALMS MAN ARRESTED FOR INVESTIGATION OF ATTEMPTED MURDER

A Twentynine Palms man was arrested Wednesday after his girlfriend said he tried to kill her. According to a Sheriff’s report, on Sunday, Steven Harwood, 47, was walking with his girlfriend to his house in the 76600 block of Foley Drive in Twentynine Palms. The woman said that Harwood refused to allow her to leave his house and kept her there overnight. On Monday, Harwood allegedly assaulted the woman multiple times, and she sustained serious injuries. On Tuesday, the woman’s friends came looking for her at Harwood’s home and she was finally able to leave. Detectives were notified of the assaults about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon when the woman went to Hi-Desert Medical Center for treatment of her injuries. Investigators served a search and arrest warrant at Harwood’s home Wednesday morning. Steven Harwood was arrested about 8 a.m. for investigation of attempted murder, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $1 million.
