A Twentynine Palms man was arrested Wednesday following a two-vehicle crash. Sheriff’s deputies say that about 1:40 p.m., Zachary Birge, 43, was driving a Chevy pick-up truck northbound on Encelia Avenue when he failed to stop at the intersection with Two Mile Road. Birge’s truck broadsided a Kia sedan. The unidentified woman driving the Kia sustained minor injuries in the crash. Deputies determined that Birge showed symptoms of recent marijuana use and was driving while impaired. Zachary Birge was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence causing bodily injury, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $100,000.
