TWENTYNINE PALMS MAN ARRESTED FOR DRUGS AFTER TRAFFIC STOP

A sharp-eyed deputy who noticed a 1999 Dodge being driven with an expired registration tag arrested the driver on drug charges. According to a Sheriff’s report, the deputy stopped Jason Johnson, 32, of Twentynine Palms, near the intersection of Two Mile Road and Oasis Avenue shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday for driving with an expired registration tag and without a front license plate. During a search of the vehicle, the deputy located methamphetamine underneath the driver’s seat. Jason Johnson was arrested for investigation of the unlawful sale of speed, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $50,000.
