TWENTYNINE PALMS MAN ARRESTED, FIGHTS WITH DEPUTIES

A Twentynine Palms man with prior convictions for resisting arrest and being under the influence of a controlled substance, was arrested Wednesday morning, accused of threatening his roommate and fighting with deputies. According to a Sheriff’s report, about 8 a.m., Paul Escobosa, 32, who is described as drunk in the report, was arguing with his roommate in the parking lot of Cactus Manor, near Cactus Drive and Desert Queen Avenue, when the argument became physical. Witnesses told deputies that the victim was on the ground and was being kicked in the face by at least three people, including two unidentified women. The report also states that Escobosa threatened the victim’s life. When a deputy attempted to arrest Escobosa, he tried to kick him, and then when he was placed inside the patrol car, Escobosa banged his head several times on the cage inside the car, as well as kicking the car’s door. While deputies were booking Escobosa at the Morongo Basin Jail, Escobosa also tried to bite the booking deputy. Escobosa was taken to Hi-Desert Medical Center for treatment of his injuries from the fight and the self-inflicted injuries. Paul Escobosa was arrested for investigation of making terrorist threats with his bail set at $50,000, and on a $25,000 warrant for illegal possession of a hypodermic needle.
