A Twentynine Palms man was arrested Monday after a short stand-off with Sheriff’s deputies. Deputies were called to a home in the 7400 block of North Star Avenue at 10:52 a.m. for a domestic disturbance. A woman at the scene told deputies that her sons were disrespecting her and she wanted them to leave. A man, later identified as Reggie Wharry, 32, left the home, but then returned, and locked himself in the house and refused to open the door for deputies. Wharry eventually emerged from the house, and was taken into custody just after 12 p.m., but gave deputies his brother’s name because he had a warrant for his arrest for a parole violation. Deputies learned his true identity however, and Reggie Wharry was arrested for investigation of false impersonation, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $50,000.
