TWENTYNINE PALMS MAN ARRESTED AFTER JOY RIDE

A Twentynine Palms man who took a car for a joyride Tuesday evening was arrested, accused of grand theft auto. According to a Sheriff’s report, Victor Medina, 31, told police that someone was chasing him, so he took a car in 72100 block of Sun Valley Drive and drove it around the block. The owner of the car walked outside about 6 p.m. just as Medina was driving the car back into the driveway. Medina allegedly offered the owner money for driving his car, but the owner called police instead. Victor Medina was arrested for investigation of grand theft auto, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $50,000.
