TWENTYNINE PALMS MAN ARRESTED AFTER HIGH-SPEED CHASE

Deputies in Twentynine Palms arrested a Twentynine Palms man for felony evading. Millard said the deputy attempted to stop a vehicle driven by Stephen McCart, 37, for a routine traffic violation, at the corner of Adobe and Indian Trail about 4:10 p.m. McCart fled westbound on Indian Trail at speeds in excess of 80 miles per hour, and blowing through stop signs. Millard said McCart finally stopped on Mesquite Springs Road and surrendered without incident. Stephen McCart was arrested for investigation of felony failure to yield, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $100,000.
