A Twentynine Palms man was arrested Friday following a high-speed pursuit through residential areas of the city. Just after 2 a.m., a deputy attempted a traffic stop on a white Honda traveling westbound on Two Mile Road near Daisy Avenue. The driver failed to yield, and led the deputy on a pursuit at a high rate of speed through residential neighborhoods and the open desert. The Honda then crashed into an asphalt berm and a street sign at Samarkand Drive and Encelia Avenue. The driver, later identified as Andrew Stewart, 31, fled on foot but was apprehended. Andrew Stewart was arrested for investigation of felony evading, booked into the West Valley Detention Center with his bail set at $100,000.
