A Twentynine Palms father who punished his son for slamming a door on his daughter’s hand was arrested Sunday evening, accused of child cruelty. According to a Sheriff’s report, a 6-year-old boy slammed the door on his 1-year-old sister’s hand. Ruben Rodriguez, 27, of the 73800 block of Manana Drive, told Twentynine Palms police he hit his son three to four times. Police found bruising on the son’s face, forehead, and neck. Ruben Rodriguez was arrested for investigation of felony cruelty to a child, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $100,000.
