A Twentynine Palms man was arrested Wednesday afternoon, accused of trying to hotwire and steal a car. According to a Sheriff’s report, deputies were called to the 6900 block of Manzanita Avenue in Twentynine Palms about 1:45 p.m. for a report that two men and a child were wandering around the property, and opening car doors to abandoned vehicles. The responding deputy contacted Edward Riddlespurger, 37, who was seen getting out of one of the cars. The ignition to the vehicle had been damaged and a bag of burglary tools and a gas can were found near the front of the car. After an investigation, Edward Riddlespurger was arrested on suspicion of grand theft auto, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $25,000.
