A Twentynine Palms man was arrested Saturday, accused of trying to stab his roommate. Deputies were called to the 6200 block of Bagley Avenue in Twentynine Palms just after midnight Saturday by a woman who said that Victor Smolen, 43, had broken down her bedroom door, and threw a lamp. She added that Smolen had either a knife or a screwdriver and tried unsuccessfully to stab her, and was yelling at her to get out of his house. After an investigation, Victor Smolen was arrested on suspicion of assault with a weapon, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $100,000.
