A Twentynine Palms man who tried to stab his girlfriend Friday was arrested Monday, accused of assault with a deadly weapon. According to a Sheriff’s report, Karl Gillispie, 39, went to a home in the 6200 block of Abronia Avenue in Twentynine Palms about 9 p.m. Friday. The two began arguing, and the woman said the Gillispie threatened her with a knife. She said he tried to stab her, but missed, and ended up stabbing the closet door instead. She said he also hit her in the head and broke several glass items inside the house. She told deputies that before he left, he threatened to return and gut her and her ex-boyfriend. Deputies issued a warrant for Gillispie’s arrest, and he was located about 1 a.m. Monday at the home. Karl Gillispie was arrested for investigation of assault with a deadly weapon, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $75,000.
