TWENTYNINE PALMS MAN ACCUSED OF THREATS ARRESTED AFTER SHORT PURSUIT

A Twentynine Palms man was arrested Wednesday after he threatened to shoot a family. Deputies were called to a home in the 6300 block of Yucca Avenue in Twentynine Palms about 7:21 p.m. for a domestic disturbance. Witnesses said that Sergio Zagal, 26, threatened to stab and shoot them, and that he wanted to be in a high-speed pursuit with deputies. When deputies arrived, Zagal fled in his vehicle, but stopped after less than a mile. Deputies had to use force to subdue Zagal, and paramedics took him to Hi-Desert Medical Center to be treated for his injuries. Sergio Zagal was then arrested for investigation of making criminal threats, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $50,000.
