TWENTYNINE PALMS MAN ACCUSED OF STEALING GIRLFRIENDS CAR

A Twentynine Palms man was arrested Saturday, accused of stealing his ex-girlfriend’s car. According to Sheriff’s reports, Jason Holmes, 26, went to his ex-girlfriend’s home in the 61400 block of La Jolla Drive in Joshua Tree about 6:30 April 15. His girlfriend told deputies he demanded the keys to her 2011 Nissan Versa, and when she refused to given them to him, he took them and left with the car. His girlfriend had taken out a restraining order against Holmes. On Saturday, a deputy on patrol in Twentynine Palms saw Holmes standing next to a 2011 Nissan Versa with his ex-girlfriend about 5:30 p.m. near Cactus Drive and Palo Verde Avenue in Twentynine Palms. The deputy found a set of keys on Holmes which unlocked the stolen Nissan. Jason Holmes was arrested for investigation of vehicle theft, and for violating the terms of his felony probation, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, and is being held without bail.
