A Twentynine Palms man was arrested Saturday, accused of stealing thousands of dollars from his employer. About 7:30 p.m. Saturday, the owner of a liquor store in the 72100 block of 29 Palms Highway called to report nearly $7,000 had been stolen from the business in the past two weeks. When the owner confronted the employee, identified as Siraj Aldaya, 57, Aldaya allegedly admitted to taking $6,800 because he was in debt. Aldaya said he intended to pay back the money he had stolen. Siraj Aldaya was arrested for investigation of grand theft, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, and released Sunday afternoon.
