A Twentynine Palms man was arrested Wednesday (August 4), accused of resisting a deputy following a vehicle pursuit. According to Sheriff’s reports, deputies observed a red Toyota traveling east on Highway 62 near Border Avenue in Joshua Tree veering in and out of traffic and changing lanes unsafely. Deputies attempted a traffic stop, but the driver, later identified as Lucien Alexandre, 23, failed to yield, leading deputies on a one-and-a-half mile pursuit. Alexandre eventually turned onto White Feather Road and sped through the Joshua Tree Court House parking lot where he parked his vehicle.
When contacted by Deputies, Alexandre failed to comply with orders to place his hands on his steering wheel. Deputies then ordered Alexandre out of his vehicle and, when Deputies attempted to detain him, Alexandre grabbed the Deputy’s fingers and attempted to break them. The deputy was able to free his hands. Alexandre then pulled away from deputies, prompting deputies to use force to detain him. Lucien Alexandre was provided medical care at Hi-Desert Medical Center and was then arrested for investigation of resisting a peace officer, and was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $50,000.
