A Twentynine Palms man was arrested, accused of choking and threatening a woman. About 12:45 p.m. Wednesday, a woman told deputies that she and Tranh Stringfield, 49, were arguing when Stringfield grabbed her neck and choked her for about 10 seconds. When she tried to kick him off her, she said he slapped her. Then she said he left the room and returned with a hammer and held it over her head and threatened to kill her. Tranh Stringfield was arrested for investigation of spouse abuse and making criminal threats, booked into the West Valley Detention Center with his bail set at $50,000.
