According to San Bernardino County District Attorney Supervisor Ron Webster, Joseph Giron Sanchez appeared in San Bernardino County court in Joshua Tree on February 22. The felony charge of child abuse was reduced to a misdemeanor charge. Giron Sanchez had a public defender appointed to represent him at his next court hearing on March 3. The $100,000 bail was dropped and Joseph Giron Sanchez was released on his own recognizance.
A Twentynine Palms Marine who disciplined a 5-year-old child by squeezing the child’s jaw was arrested Friday, accused of child abuse. According to a Sheriff’s report, a deputy was called to a childcare center about 10:20 a.m., when an employee noticed the child’s jawline was bruised. The report states that Thursday night, Joseph Giron Sanchez, 25, of the 6300 block of Ocotillo Avenue, grabbed the child’s jawline, squeezed, and lifted the child’s jaw because the child was talking back and not paying attention. Joseph Giron Sanchez, a lance corporal with 3rd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, was arrested for investigation of felony child abuse, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $100,000.
