A Twentynine Palms man was arrested Monday after he attempted to bring illegal drugs into the Morongo Basin Jail. The Sheriff’s Department says deputies were called to a business in the 73800 block of Baseline Road about 5 p.m. for a man, later identified as Naim Sharrieff, 43, who was under the influence of drugs. When Sharrieff was being booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, deputies discovered that he had a clear baggie with a white crystal-like substance resembling methamphetamine on his person. Naim Sharrieff was then booked into the West Valley Detention Center for investigation of bringing narcotics into jail, with his bail set at $25,000.
