A Twentynine Palms man with $300,000 in Sheriff’s warrants was arrested Friday (August 6) accused of battery causing great bodily injury. According to Sheriff’s reports, deputies responded to the 71600 block of Cactus Drive around 7:40 p.m. for a report of an assault. The caller told deputies that the victim and his brother, Thomas McCool, 51, were fighting when McCool assaulted the victim with a pair of brass knuckles. Arriving Deputies found the victim at the scene and transported him to Hi Desert Medical Center with severe injuries.
Deputies began a search for McCool, locating him at his mother’s home on Mariposa Avenue in Twentynine Palms. Despite a search of McCool and the home, Deputies were unable to locate McCool’s brass knuckles. Thomas McCool was arrested for investigation of battery causing great bodily injury, on $300,000 in warrants for felony vandalism and driving with a suspended license from a DUI, and on a felony no-bail warrant for probation violation. He was booked into the West Valley Detention Center with his bail set at $100,000.
