TWENTYNINE PALMS MAN ACCUSED OF ATTEMPTED MURDER AFTER KNIFE ATTACK

A Twentynine Palms man was arrested Sunday (March 7) after his ex-wife said he sliced her multiple times with a knife. About 1:40 p.m., a woman called to report Ricardo Ballinas, 53, had a knife and cut her in her knee, hand, and chest. She was able to get in a vehicle and drive from Twentynine Palms to Hi-Desert Medical Center, but said her husband was following her in another vehicle. She asked that deputies meet her at the hospital because she said Ballinas didn’t want her to go to the hospital and wouldn’t let her go inside. When deputies arrived, Ricardo Ballinas was arrested for investigation of attempted murder, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $1 million.
