TWENTYNINE PALMS MAN ACCUSED OF ASSAULT WITH A DEADLY WEAPON AFTER STRIKING ANOTHER MAN WITH HIS VEHICLE

A Twentynine Palms man was arrested Sunday (August 15) accused of assault with a deadly weapon after striking another man with his vehicle. According to Sheriff’s reports, Deputies responded around 9:45 p.m. to the 7400 block of Sherman Hoyt Avenue in Twentynine Palms for a report that a man had been run over by a vehicle during a fight. Arriving deputies determined that Michael Peres, 19, and Fred Walker, 92, had gotten into a physical argument and, when an unidentified victim intervened, Walker struck the victim with his vehicle. The victim was transported by medical personnel to Hi-Desert Medical Center for treatment. Michael Peres was arrested for investigation of battery and was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail and later cited and released. Fred Walker was arrested for investigation of assault with a deadly weapon and was booked into the West Valley Detention Center with his bail set at $50,000.
