TWENTYNINE PALMS MAN ACCUSED OF ANIMAL CRUELTY AFTER THROWING HIS DOG ONTO THE SIDEWALK

A Twentynine Palms man was arrested Thursday night (July 8) accused of animal cruelty after reportedly picking up his dog and throwing it on the sidewalk. According to Sheriff’s reports, a witness reported seeing a man, later identified as Stephen Salas, 64, kicking and beating his dog near the intersection of Adobe Road and Sunnyslope Drive in Twentynine Palms around 6 p.m. Deputies responded and contacted Salas. During their investigation, Deputies determined that Salas had picked up the dog and thrown it onto the sidewalk, causing injuries to the dog. Stephen Salas was arrested for investigation of felony animal cruelty and was booked into the West Valley Detention Center with his bail set at $50,000.
