The Twentynine Palms High School Ladycats volleyball teams were hosts’ to the Rajahs of Indio High School last night and tough battles were lost.
The junior varsity team lost in 2, 16-25 and 21-25. Lily Romero put down 5 kills and one ace serve. Hailey Stephenson had 3 ace serves and 5 assists. Mariah Coriaarmenta had two kills.
In varsity action the cats were point for point with the Rajahs but fell just short of the wins, losing in four: 22-25, 24-26, 20-25. Senior Jenica Silvas led the team with 6 kills, 3 aces, 5 assists, and 19 digs. Sophomore Vivian Grunt had 4 kills, 3 aces, 1 assist and solid defense with 21 digs. Freshman Eva Tili had one solo block, 2 ace serves and put down 4 kills. Sophomore Seniyah Hawkins had 3 kills, one solo block, 6 assists and 15 digs. Senior Jayde James had 10 digs.
The Ladycats will host the Trojans of Yucca Valley on Monday 10/14. The theme is Camo and it is also Senior Night where the seniors will be honor shortly after the Jv team ends and before the varsity game starts.
