The Twentynine Palms High School Interact club is currently accepting donations so that 300 local area families will have everything they need to prepare a Thanksgiving meal in their own homes, including the turkey. Donations of cash or non-perishable food items are being accepted at Twentynine Palms High School through November 16. The goal is that 300 families will receive a turkey and the following basics for their meal, canned cranberries, roll mix, stuffing mix, canned sweet potatoes, instant mashed potatoes, vegetables, gravy, and a dessert item. These items will be distributed in the gym at Twentynine Palms High School on Saturday, November 17 from noon to 1 p.m. November 1 is the first day of sign-ups for the turkey distribution. Anyone who needs a turkey and the fixings can sign up at Reach Out Morongo Basin. Twentynine Palms Elementary School and Twentynine Palms Junior High School will also collect non-perishable food items. Questions can be directed to the Interact advisor, Lori Cosgriff, at 760-900-1169. Interact is Rotary International’s service club for young people ages 12 to 18. The Twentynine Palms High School Club is sponsored by the Twentynine Palms Rotary Club, which provides support and guidance.
