Jane Smith, the longtime owner of the Twentynine Palms Inn, died in her sleep last night (July 7/22). Smith was the daughter of the founder of the Inn, Bob Lahr, who established the restaurant and hotel in 1939. Smith’s daughter Heidi Grunt told Z107.7 that Jane Smith died peacefully after a family gathering at the Twentynine Palms Inn Wednesday evening. Smith would have been 80 on August 11.
