TWENTYNINE PALMS HOSTS DOWNTOWN REVITALIZATION PROJECT NAMING CONTEST

Now that the long-awaited Project Phoenix is underway, the city of Twentynine Palms is hosting a renaming contest for areas within the project and are hoping for public involvement. Reporter Heather Clisby says today is the final day to make your submissions…

As downtown Twentynine Palms undergoes a Project Phoenix makeover, the city is hosting a Downtown Revitalization Project Naming Contest to rename the downtown plaza area as well as Yucca Avenue.

Seeking names that are “more reflective of the local character, culture and environment,” the city is asking locals to submit ideas for a chance to win $300.

Each entry can include up to three names for both the plaza area and Yucca Avenue. There is no age limit or geographic restriction. The winning submissions will be selected by a panel of public officials and community representatives and the individuals will be recognized by the mayor and council at a public meeting.  Deadline for submissions is July 29 at 5:00 p.m. Follow the link below for more information.
