Twentynine Palms High School Wildcats track and field hosted their first De Anza League meet against the Desert Mirage Rams. The boys defeated the Rams 70-57 and were led by top scorer KJ Morton who earned 19.5 points in the 4×1, 100 meters, 300 hurdles, and triple jump. The Lady Wildcats won by a score of 91-32 and were led by a trio of top scorers: sophomore sprinter Shania Newby scored 15, junior distance runner Vanessa Walton with 13 points, and freshman hurdler Jordan Stanley pitched in 12.5 points. Coach Ronda Lockett-Morton said the top performer of the day was sophomore Adam Mapuatuli who threw two personal bests, with a 129 feet, 4 inches heave in the discus and a 41 feet, 3.5 inches put in the shot. He won first in both events and earned 10 points for the team.
