TWENTYNINE PALMS HIGH SCHOOL TRACK TEAM IN BEAUMONT COMPETITION

Twentynine Palms Wildcats track and field attended the Cougar Classic at Beaumont High School on Saturday. Coach Rhonda Lockett Morton said athletes that placed in the top ten were: Adam Mapuatuli who earned fifth in the shot put and discus, Liana Ruiz who placed fifth in the shot put, and Kathy Lazaro placed tenth in the 300-meter hurdles.
 
The top performer of the day was junior captain Spencer Walton, who ran for two personal records earning fourth in the 1600 meter with a time of 4:33.10, and second in the 3200 meter with a near record-breaking time of 9:49.84.
 
Seniors Beayahn Carrllo and Kathy Lazaro were named the Wildcats of the Week. Up next for the Wildcats, the team will face the Desert Hot Springs Golden Eagles on Wednesday.
