TWENTYNINE PALMS HIGH SCHOOL TRACK ATHLETES TAKE CIF HONORS

Twentynine Palms High School track and field team traveled to El Camino College in Torrance to compete in the CIF finals meet. The lone representative from the eight school Desert Valley League, the Wildcats did not disappoint. Coach Ronda Lockett-Morton said Jonathan Carson, Brandon Benton, Jeremiah Kirk, Johnnie Smith, and Shaniah Newby each earned All-CIF honors. In her final high school race, Newby re-broke her own school records with personal record times of 12.46 in the 100 meter and a 25.25 in the 200 meter race. Fourth-year senior captain and two-time All-CIF thrower Adam Mapuatuli earned a CIF Championship in the discus throw.
