A Twentynine Palms High School senior is one of 16,000 semi-finalists nationwide who qualified for the National Merit Scholarship program. Joshua Elmer is one of 1.5 million students from 22,000 schools who took this assessment in the fall of 2015. He now has the opportunity to advance to become a finalist in competition for $33 million in college scholarships. His performance on the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test ranks him in the top 1 percent of students in the United States. The names of finalists will be named in February, and the winners will be announced in April 2017.
