TWENTYNINE PALMS HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS: TRACK AND TENNIS

Twentynine Palms High School track and field hosted Coachella Valley in the first league meet of the season. Coach Ronda Lockett-Morton said the boys Wildcats defeated the Arabs 18-10, while the Lady Wildcats were overwhelmed by a score of 64-23.

N’Taiya Youso was a double first place finisher scoring 10 points for the Lady Wildcats with a 28-5 in the shot put and a 74-10 in the discus throw. Other first place finishers included Roberto Gutierrez in the 800m, JR Foley in the discus. Next up for the team will be Desert Hot Springs on April 14.

The Twentynine Palms High School boys/girls varsity tennis teams hosted the Desert Mirage Rams Wednesday. Coach Bill Shay said the Wildcat boys beat the Rams 8 to 1 while the Ladycats beat the Rams 8 to 1. The Wildcats boys are now 4 and 0 and the Ladycats are now 3 and 1.

In doubles action, the Wildcat boys’ double teams of Troy Silva/Titus Bosch, Jonray Mendoza/Daniel Huynh, and Nhan Nguyen/Brayden Chambers swept the Rams in all three matches.

The Wildcats boys Troy Silva, Titus Bosch, Jonray Mendoza, Nhan Nguyen and Daniel Huynh each won their singles match.

In girls’ doubles action, the Ladycat teams of Emily Stuckey/Isabel Plummer and Anaid Montero/Makenna Whitfield each won their doubles match.

In singles action, Mariah Banerjee, Anaid Montero, Madi Soster, Natalia Henry, Carly Bateman and Mackenna Whitfield each won their singles game.
