TWENTYNINE PALMS HIGH SCHOOL GOLFER QUALIFIES FOR CIF

Twentynine Palms high school golfer Kayla Speer competed this week in the Desert Valley League girls golf finals at Tahquitz Creek golf course in Palm Springs and qualified for the CIF individual championship.

Speer, a sophomore who has played on the boy’s golf team this season, was eligible to enter the DVL girls finals. Speer started off strong on Monday, carding a 94, one shot off the lead on the first of the two-day finals. On Wednesday she took the lead on the first hole and never looked back. Finishing with a birdie on 18 she sealed the win 11 shots ahead of the nearest competitor with a score of 88. Kayla will play next Wednesday, June 2, at Western Hills county club in the CIF regional individual championship.
