The Twentynine Palms High School Girls Varsity Tennis Team traveled to Indian Wells tennis Garden on Monday and Tuesday to participate in the Desert Valley League Individual Finals.

The Ladycats did a fantastic job. In singles action, Taylor Fourier fought hard in the first round coming up short 7 to 9. Loreann Obrero won her first round 8 to 0 but lost against a skilled player in the second round 0 to 8. In doubles action, Ethly Amaro and Danesa Rife won their first round 8 to 4, won their second round 8 to 4, and lost in their third round 3 to 8. The team of Isabel Plummer and Emily Stuckey earned a first team recognition in the DVL for their record of 32 and 7 earning them a bye in the first round. They won the second round 8 to 2, and lost in the third round 5 to 8. The team of Madi Soster and Mariah Banerjee also earned a first team recognition in the DVL for their record of 38-2 which only on other doubles team in the league was better than them thus earning them a bye in the first round. They won the second round 8 to 2. They won the third round 8 to 0 earning them a chance to play in the semifinals round. They challenged a team from Desert Mirage and beat them in both sets 6 to 2 and 6 to 4. Then they moved on to the Finals where the faced the number one team from Yucca Valley. It was an intense battle but the Ladycats came up short . Both sets went to tiebreakers ending in set scores of 6 to 7 with a tiebreaker score of 7 to 9 and the second set was 6 to 7 with a tiebreaker score of 5 to 7. They ended up finishing in second place in the DVL and earning them a spot in the CIF individual finals in November. The entire Twentynine Palms High School Ladycats Team also finished in third place for the season earning them a trip to the playoff which will be announced on November 4. Way to go Ladycats!
The Wildcats of the week are Madi Soster and Mariah Banerjee. Little needs to be said about the dedication of these two. What a fantastic season and Go Ladycats!
