The Wildcats completed their season by winning five consecutive games, averaging 54 points a game, during the winning streak. With the victory, which marked the 150th team win for Coach Ernest Martinez, the Wildcats finish in a tie for second place in the Desert Valley league, and will host a home playoff game against Beaumont this Friday night. Beaumont is an at-large team in the Division 11 playoff bracket, finishing in fourth place in a very strong Mountain Pass league. The Wildcats will be in the playoffs for their 16th time since the 2001 season, in which they have won 12 playoff games.
The CIF playoff game will begin Friday, November 2 at 7 p.m. at Tom Nicoll memorial stadium. The Wildcats will be facing a team that has passed for over 2,300 yards and rushed for 865 on the season. Both teams average over 30 points a game, with the Wildcats having a slight edge at 34 points a game versus 31 yards per game scored by Beaumont on the season. The Wildcats average nearly 230 yards rushing a game, while the Cougars average 230 yards passing per contest.
The only common opponent for the two teams is Banning. The Beaumont Cougars trailed 21-0 but finished with a last-second victory. The Twentynine Palms Wildcats led at halftime against Banning but fell behind late in the final quarter in week 4 of the season.
