M.E. Wilson Sr., a coach at Twentynine Palms High School, competed in the 2018 USA Open Karate Championships, which took place between March 31 and April 1 at the Paris Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Wilson Sr. received a bronze medal in the men’s 55-and-older advanced kata category, and a bronze medal in the men’s 55-and-older advanced kumite category. The event featured nation-wide participants as well as international participants from Brazil, Namibia, Kazakhstan, Mexico, and Ecuador. Wilson Sr. is currently preparing for nationals, which will be held in Reno, Nevada in July.
