The coach of the Twentynine Palms High School boys’ basketball team resigned from his coaching position last week. TJ Stanford announced his resignation last Thursday, and said in a statement:
“I resigned because my school district and school board does not support coaches or teachers. They allow parents to harass, bully, and intimidate coaches. The parents are supported by the school district and the school board without even asking the coaches [sic] side. I cannot coach for a superintendent and school board that convicts before even talking to them in person. Teachers and coaches are not supported by the school board and superintendent in the Morongo Unified School District.”
Sources with the Basketball team supporters told Z107.7 News that Antoine Kilgore has been named as the new Coach. The Wildcat boys’ basketball team is 18-7 overall, and undefeated, 6-0, in DeAnza League play. The Wildcats’ next game is Wednesday against cross-basin rival Yucca Valley High School, who are 2-8 overall and 1-5 in league play.
