TWENTYNINE PALMS HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL

The Twentynine Palms Wildcats boys basketball team completed their week with three Desert Valley League (DVL) games, and three DVL victories by double digits with a 73-46 win over league rival Indio on Thursday evening. In the most recent CIF Division 4A poll, Twentynine Palms was ranked #10, and Indio was #12.

Entering the game in a tie for first place in the league at 3-0, the Wildcats used a suffocating opening quarter to jump out to a 21-6 lead in the first quarter, and rode a 38-17 halftime score to a 27 point victory that saw 13 different Wildcats score.

Senior Jacob Hueso scored 18 points and had six steals in three quarters, and Junior Jeremiah Holmes finished with 17 points and 14 rebounds for the home team, playing their first home game in almost 16 months in front of a limited but enthusiastic home crowd.

The Wildcats play at home next Tuesday evening against Desert Hot Springs, and then at home Friday night against Banning in the likely league championship game before heading into the first round of the CIF playoffs.
