A 15-year-old Twentynine Palms girl was killed and four others were injured in a rollover crash Friday near Temecula. The California Highway Patrol said 40-year-old Nicole Rachel was driving a Ford F450 pickup truck southbound on Interstate 15 just south of Temecula about 8:00 a.m. when the truck hydroplaned in one of the middle lanes. The truck veered to the left lane, and then crossed all the lanes to the right before driving up a dirt embankment on the right shoulder. The truck rolled multiple times just south of the Temecula Parkway. Arielle Healy, who was sitting in the rear seat, was partially ejected from the truck and died ten minutes later. Rachel suffered moderate injuries; a 14-year-old girl in the front seat suffered major injuries; a 13-year-old girl, also in the front seat, suffered moderate injuries. A 17-year-old boy in the rear seat suffered minor injuries. A CHP spokesman said that while weather was a contributing factor in the crash, the fatality may have been avoided if Healy had been wearing a seatbelt. Arielle Healy, a popular student at Twentynine Palms High School, was honored by friends and family at an emotional balloon release in the Chocolate Drop area yesterday.
