The City of Twentynine Palms is sponsoring the second annual Fourth of July celebration in Luckie Park. The activities will begin at 4 p.m. in Luckie Park. There will be crafts and activities for kids of all ages, including face painting, a watermelon-eating contest, and three large inflatable jumpers. Food vendors will sell hot dogs, tacos, pulled pork sandwiches, Italian ice, and beverages. Luckie Park pool will remain open for free swimming from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Entertainment starts at 4 p.m. with the Marine Sandpiper Joel Daniels and his Bagpipes, followed by a patriotic presentation “Salute to Freedom’s Beat” and the Southern Classic rock band “Southbound.” The fireworks display will be shot from at Twentynine Palms Junior High school, viewing should be done from Luckie Park or private residences as the school will not be accessible. Two Mile Road from Wainwright to Utah Trail and Utah Trail from Two Mile Road to Playa Vista Avenue will be closed at 8:30 until the fireworks are over.
