A Twentynine Palms man who was released from jail on Sunday was arrested Monday, accused of violating a restraining order. According to a Sheriff’s report, Joseph Farhat, 25, had been in jail for violating the terms of his parole; he was released Sunday. On Monday, the owner of a vacant home in the 7000 block of El Sol Avenue in Twentynine Palms discovered that someone had broken into the residence. After an investigation, deputies determined Joseph Farhat had returned to the residence in violation of a domestic violence restraining order that had been taken out against him on May 13. Farhat was re-arrested for violating the terms of his parole, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, and is being held with no bail. In November 2012, prosecutors dropped attempted murder charges against Farhat for the July 2012 stabbing of a Marine at the Twentynine Palms’ Denny’s, in exchange for pleading guilty to participating in a street gang and assault with bodily injuries in the case. Farhat had been sentenced to 2 years, 8 months in prison, with credit for time served of about 11 months.
