A Twentynine Palms father was arrested Monday afternoon, accused of beating up his daughter. According to a Sheriff’s report, the teenager was at Twentynine Palms High School and told a mandated reporter that she was afraid to go home because she had hit her father during an argument the night before. During an investigation, the deputy determined that the girl had gotten home late, and during the ensuing argument, her 47-year-old father—whom Z107.7 is not identifying until he has been legally charged to protect his daughter’s identity—allegedly slapped his daughter, wrestled with her, and choked her until she couldn’t breathe. The victim sustained several injuries consistent with being in a fight. The father was arrested at his home in the 6300 block of Yucca Avenue, on suspicion of felony child abuse, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $100,000. He will be arraigned in court Thursday afternoon. In 2007, the father pled no contest to a charge of felony child abuse, was sentenced to 90 days in jail (with credit for 48 days served), and five years’ probation.
