To ease overcrowding at the state’s Department of Motor Vehicle offices, 69 DMV offices—including the Twentynine Palms field office—are opening an hour earlier four days a week. The Twentynine Palms DMV office will be open 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, and will be open 8 to 5 on Wednesdays. The next closest DMV office in Palm Springs is closed for renovations, but is expected to reopen July 29 at 8 a.m. To reduce wait times, residents are urged to go to the DMV website to make an appointment.
