Twentynine Palms couple arrested for investigation into child neglect and cruelty
A couple was arrested for child abuse after a family member called in an incident of alleged neglect.
On Sunday (June 21) at approximately 1 a.m., Morongo Basin Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call in the 5900 block of Lupine Avenue in Twentynine Palms. Deputies say that a family member had contacted law enforcement to report an act of child cruelty. They told officers that Keely Cook, 29, and Joshua Guinn, 41, had been intentionally neglecting their child. According to deputies, both Cook and Guinn were arrested at the scene, and the child was taken to the hospital for a checkup by medical personnel.
According to court records, Cook had requested to file a restraining order against Guinn in March of 2024, citing domestic violence with minor children. Guinn is currently in court proceedings for a Misdemeanor Domestic Battery charge from March 2024; he is scheduled for a pretrial hearing before Judge Sarah Oliver on August 7. According to court records, Guinn was released from custody on May 29.
Keely Cook and Joshua Guinn were arrested for an investigation into child abuse with possible great bodily injury or death. They are each being held at the West Valley Jail on $50,000 bail.
