A Twentynine Palms couple was arrested Tuesday, accused of neglecting their children. According to a Sheriff’s report, school officials notified the Sheriff’s Department that two children had been missing school, and that their mother, Sabrina Norcross, 32, was not returning phone calls to the school. A deputy checked on the children in the 6900 block of Juniper Avenue in Twentynine Palms about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, and found the couple’s two daughters had been sick for over a week. The deputy determined that their home was filthy, with little food or clean clothing. After an investigation, Sabrina Norcross and Byron Martinez, 35, were arrested on suspicion of child neglect, and booked at the Morongo Basin Jail. They were cited and released. The children were taken into custody by Child Protective Services.
