TWENTYNINE PALMS COUPLE ACCUSED OF CHILD ENDANGERMENT

A Twentynine Palms couple are accused of child endangerment after they and a young child were found living in a home with illegal drugs and no electricity. According to a Sheriff’s report, about 4:20 p.m. Tuesday, a neighbor in the 73800 block of Sunnyslope Drive in Twentynine Palms reported to deputies that Rodney Berry, 29, and Shaquetta Turner, also 29, were living in a home with a young child and the couple had illegally hooked up to the neighbor’s power source. No one was home when deputy first arrived to check out the report. Deputies returned about 11:30 p.m. and determined that a 5-year-old child was living in the home with Berry and Turner with no power. Deputies also found rotting food, marijuana, meth pipes, and other dangerous items littered throughout the home and easily accessible to the child. Rodney Berry and Shaquetta Turner were arrested for felony child endangerment, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with their bail set at $100,000 each.
