TWENTYNINE PALMS COUNCIL HEARS “STATE OF CITY” FROM OUTGOING MAYOR KLINK

The Twentynine Palms City Council met in regular session last night. Reporter David Haldane said a state of the city address was followed by an expected reorganization…
Twentynine Palms Mayor Joel Klink ended his term Tuesday night with a shaky rendition of “I Wish You a Merry Christmas” and a State of the City address extolling his hometown’s future.
“I have been a resident of Twentynine Palms for over 50 years so I have seen ups and downs, however I am encouraged by the progress over the past twelve months and look forward to the planning of the next twelve months,” the mayor said.
He went on to report that the city had received a clean bill of health in its recently completed annual audit, has ample reserves, has experienced significant growth in the past year and is working on a long term financial plan for the future.
“The City of Twentynine Palms is moving forward in a positive direction,” the mayor said.
The meeting concluded, as expected, with the election of Mayor Pro Tem Daniel Mintz as the new mayor and Councilman John E. Cole as Mayor Pro Tem.
