The Twentynine Palms City Council gave City Manager Frank Luckino a modest raise last night. With little discussion, the council members increased his salary by 1.65 percent, or $3,000 a year. Luckino took a cost-of-living increase of 2.7 percent, but eliminated the cash-out portion of his sick time and got $1,500 annually towards a flex-spending program for his medical insurance.
In other action last night, the city council executed a memorandum of understanding to allow the city and the Twentynine Palms Band of Mission Indians to collaborate on federal funds for roads through the Tribal Transportation Program.
The City Council awarded a project management contract for parts of Project Phoenix to the Tall Man Group; the organization will oversee the engineers and contractors for building the multi-purpose building and help negotiate with the housing developer. Councilmember John Cole wanted to make sure that the city minimized the cost as much as possible to ensure they deliver the project on budget.
