Twentynine Palms City Council to Reconsider their recent decision to not continue funding Visit 29 Tourism Outreach.

Tuesday, September 12, after a Public Hearing to consider protests and take public input, the Twentynine Palms City Council voted 3-2 to not continue a 1.5% TBID assessment paid by visitors in all local lodging.  The action effectively ends the operation of Visit 29 as of September 30, 2023. TBID, The Tourism Business Improvement District was established and branded as Visit 29 Palms in 2017 to promote growth in travel and tourism in 29 Palms.

In the wake of that action, pursuant to state open meeting laws, Mayor Wright has called for a Special meeting for 6:00 pm Monday, September 18th, to reconsider that vote.
