The City of Twentynine Palms will say farewell to retiring Sheriff’s Captain Donnie Miller at a special reception in his honor on Tuesday, July 24, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. The event will be held at City Hall, 6136 Adobe Road, prior to the City Council meeting. A lifetime resident of Twentynine Palms, Miller served in the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department for 31 years, working the jurisdictions from San Bernardino to Victorville, Big Bear, the Morongo Basin, and Needles. He took command of the Morongo Basin Sheriff’s Station in 2008 and has served as Police Chief for Twentynine Palms for the past four years. Miller regularly attended Twentynine Palms City Council meetings and served as a City Council member from 1994 to 1998, as mayor in 1996, and in recent years as a uniformed representative of the Sheriff’s Department in attendance at council meetings.
